Ray Quinteros

Ray Quinteros transferred to Urbana High School in the middle of his freshman year, and has been here ever since. He is now halfway through his senior year.

It can be a stressful ordeal moving from one school to another, especially for someone who describes themselves as “hard-headed” and “a lot to handle”. However, after moving over from Wheaton High School, Ray has said that his most positive experience here at Urbana High School has been making all of the friends he has met here. They have “helped him grow into who [he] is throughout junior and senior year”, and have helped him stay on the right track.

Along with all of the new friends Ray has made along the way, he has also found himself included in what he refers to as “a brotherhood”. Ray has been a member of the varsity football team both his junior and senior year. He explains that it is a rather arduous sport, between all of the “running, hitting, and sweating”, but he loved playing it and thinks of his team members and coaches as family.

In addition to football, another one of Ray’s biggest passions is boxing. He first realized his interest in boxing from various anime shows and manga novels that he watches and reads. Specifically, he is inspired by one called Hajime No Ippo, which he often rereads. This particular manga portrays the story of a young high school student who takes his love of boxing, and through hard-work and dedication is able to become a world-champion contender.

After high school, Ray plans to go to college as well as get a job, so he can save up enough money to begin going to the gym and putting in the work to accomplish his dream of being a professional boxer.
