What is Mini-Thon?

Mini-Thon was a club at Urbana that ran from 2015 to 2020, but it is a lot bigger than that. Mini-Thon is an offshoot of the broader nationwide activity known as Thon. Thon was started at Penn State University as a charity organization to raise money for pediatric cancer research, specifically Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital. It was started in 1973, every year it has grown larger and larger raising more money for Four Diamonds. They host running events and other charity events to raise money for Four Diamonds. Mini-Thons are smaller organizations that are run by highschools, instead of universities, to support cancer research. Over then history of Mini-Thon there have been over $70 million raised for the Four Diamonds organization.
