Students are getting ready for Thanksgiving break, and in Mrs. Robinson’s Computer Graphics class, the atmosphere is full with excitement.
With all their assignments completed and grades finalized, the students have earned some downtime before the long break ahead. Rather than simply taking the time to relax, the class has dived into playing Werewolves, a fun variation of the popular party game Mafia.
In Mafia, players take on roles within a fictional town: there’s the Mafia, a Doctor, a Detective, and citizens. The Mafia works secretly to eliminate the citizens, while the Doctor tries to protect them, and the Detective attempts to unmask the Mafia members. It’s a game of strategy where players must work together to figure out who the Mafia members are before they take out all the citizens.
Werewolf is a spin on this concept. While the main parts of the game stay the same, new roles are introduced, including werewolves who secretly eliminate others, Seers that can see the true identity of players, villagers trying to figure out who the werewolves are, The witch, That can either heal or poison players, and other special character like the Alpha Werewolf and the Drunk.
“It’s really fun because it’s Mafia but better, Werewolf give us better chances of doing something, and getting a role in the game” Alexey Lotov says.
For Mrs. Robinson’s class, playing Werewolves has become a downtime activity that most of the class enjoys. The game is often played after all assignments have been completed, or as a reward when the class meets important milestones, And in this case after today we are on Thanksgiving Break!
