Across Frederick County, many schools have begun their journey of becoming a “No Place for Hate” school. Today, students and staff a part of this inaugural program at UHS went to the FCPS Learning and Leadership Center in Walkerville, Maryland.
The No Place for Hate program focuses on making the school environment free of hate speech and discrimination. Ultimately, the program and the activities done to enact it will make our school a better and safer place for everyone.
A total of six individuals from UHS, including Mr. Blaser and Ms. Coggins, participated in the summit alongside many other students and staff from other Frederick County schools.
Mackenna Patterson, a student leader apart of No Place for Hate said, “I hope the No Place for Hate movement can bring a sense of inclusivity to Urbana High School and help people recognize that although we may have different beliefs and come from different backgrounds, ultimately everyone wants to be treated with respect and kindness. I believe No Place for Hate can encourage this message.”
The day included different lessons and activities each directed towards finding solutions to creating a better environment for students and staff of UHS.
UHS is excited to soon officially become a No Place for Hate!
