“What is it like being in charge of The Hawkeye?”

“Running The Hawkeye is actually a lot of fun. It’s different from teaching an English class, in that we are really running a small business and we become more of a team than we do a class. It’s very enjoyable to watch people go out and investigate and pursue areas of interest, then write that article and post it online or print it in the paper. One of my greatest joys is to hear back from students that have graduated and to hear what they are doing. Many of them, surprisingly, are in the journalism field in one way or another and that is very rewarding for me as a teacher.”
