Good Morning Urbana! Today is Tuesday, January 12.
Are you interested in participating in this year’s Annual Rotary “4-Way Test” Speech Contest? The contest is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Frederick County, and is open to any Frederick County student in grades 11 or 12. Contestants may speak on any subject, but must incorporate all aspects of the Rotary 4-Way test. If you would like to be considered for Urbana High School’s representative, please turn in a copy of your written speech to Ms. Ruby in the Guidance office by this Friday.
A preseason meeting for all students interested in trying out for tennis will be held on Tuesday, January 19th at 2:30 in room A154. Any students who cannot attend should see Mr. Walton in the guidance office for information regarding tryouts and necessary paperwork.
The NHS will be hosting a jeans drive this week. Bring in jeans of all different types, styles, and colors. The jeans will be collected during fourth block on Wednesday and Friday, and the fourth block that brings the most jeans will win a pizza party.
The American Legion Boys State Program will be held at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD from June 19-25, 2016. The program’s objective is to inform current high school junior boys to the United States Constitutional form of government. The program emphasizes the importance of future participation as a citizen in the government process. If interested see your guidance counselor. Completed applications are due by May 15, 2016.
Anyone interested in participating in the Cool Schools Plunge to support Special Olympics of Maryland should see Mrs. O’Brien or Mrs. Hill.
Come out to the dance recital at 7:00 on Thursday in the auditorium! The cost is $5 and come see some amazing dancers!
