May is Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) Awareness Month. TSC is a genetic disorder that causes non-malignant tumors to form in many organs, mainly in the brain, eyes, heart, kidney, skin and lungs. About 1 million people worldwide are estimated to have TSC, with approximately 50,000 cases in the United States. At least two children born each day will have TSC, however, many people with TSC are living independent and healthy lives, and enjoying challenging professions. Ten year old Tre Ballard, son of Personal Finance teacher Patricia Ballard, is one of those living with the disease. For more information, go to: http://www.tscglobalday.org/whatistsc.html
