Today marks the 2024-2025 school year’s iteration of the club fair, jam packed filled with dozens of clubs, both new and old, in the UHS cafeteria this morning/afternoon.
The clubs had time to prepare their displays early this morning until classes started, and were advised to ensure they were ready before lunch shifts could begin. One by one, display boards and cafeteria tables were set up, though whereas last year’s club fair had students prepare in the gym, today students were instead redirected to the edges of the cafeteria.
Despite how overcrowded the cafeteria was by this point, students were still able to navigate the club fair, observe all of the clubs that were available, and receive information about each club from club advisors or representatives (such as for the Sigma XI club, which student Karthik Muthukkumar describes as being “a nationally recognized science and research society, especially reaching out to graduates, science professionals across the world” with the objective of “connect with high school students, work with them on their research projects and provide them opportunities with other science research experiences”.)
Clubs that were put up for display for part 1 of the club fair (the second part is tomorrow!) include Sigma XI, DECA, Rocketry, Survival Skills, Origami, Art, UNICEF, Urbana Red Cross, UHS Drama, Young Writer’s Workshop, D&D, Model UN, Robotics, and various other clubs that students will be able to participate in once club sign ups are available.
