The Urbana boys Cross country placed 9th out of 116 teams this past weekend at the Oatlands Invitational in Leesburg, Virginia.
The meet was highlighted by an Urbana school record for the course with Riley Gallogly (10) running a time of 16:29 in the five kilometer run. Other noteworthy performances at the meet include a 17:07 ran by Korey Kauflin (11) and a 17:18 from Joshua Rothery (11).
Oatlands is notorious for being one of the most difficult courses in the mid-atlantic region and it’s easily the hardest on Urbana’s schedule.
Ethan Reyes (12) who ran in the meet said that, “The first mile can be the most killing for the rest of the course if you go out too fast”. The course terrain at Oatlands is extremely hilly with the first mile being downhill with the next mile being almost completely uphill.
The Oatlands Invitational was a huge success for Urbana as the cross country team hopes to carry this momentum into the Carlisle Invite next Saturday.
