Last Friday on September 20th, our beloved Youth Night took place. It is one of the craziest and heartwarming nights of the year.
Youth Night takes place at a home football game once every September. All of the recreational football players, cheerleaders, and pom dancers from all grades get together and show up to the high school game with their uniforms.
Kindergarten through 8th grade sports get to participate in the tunnel. Cheer K-12 performs on sidelines throughout the game, while rec Poms and UHS Poms perform the annual “Spirit Dance” during halftime.
This night makes a huge impact to these kids. They really look up to the high school athletes, especially the ones involved in the sport they play.
Senior Michelle Mulligan stated, “I think the kids are affected by this because they get to see the older kids and ultimately their future right in front of them.”
Youth Night will always be a great night for the high school students, kids, parents, and the overall Urbana community. It holds a special place in our hearts.
