Today, the Urbana Girl’s Varsity and Junior Varsity basketball teams faced off against Patterson Mill High School at Urbana.
In the varsity game, Urbana (2-3) handed the no longer undefeated Patterson Mill (5-1) their first loss of the season with a final score of 53-38.
After building a 12 point lead at the half, they continued this momentum to finish out the game with a 15 point victory against the huskies, which was a result of a great performance off the bench by Zizi Etolue, Class of 2027, with 19 points and Kiersten Smith, Class of 2025, who has 7 points before picking up an injury in the third quarter.
After starting 0-3, the girl’s basketball team has seen great improvements with this being their second consecutive victory. Coach Rawlins also noticed this after the game when he said, “We’re seeing great improvements in transition and being able to run the floor.”
Earlier in the evening, Urbana’s JV team beat Patterson Mill with a blowout victory of 39-20. Urbana was led by top scorer Dalia Saied, Class of 2027, with 14 points, and Molly Edmunds, Class of 2028, with 7 points.
With this second consecutive win, they will hope to bring an end to their losing record against The John Carroll School on Friday 12/20.
Come cheer them on!
