Almost there the last day before break!! All that stress about school, extracurricular, and sports will be relieved here shortly. To help break up the stress and prepare students for the upcoming break, sports med, team sports, strength training, fitness for life are all participating in a tradition here at UHS. Some teachers involved are Mrs. Susan Guglielmini and Coach Gavin Donahue. They try to get their students to participate because all the classes are competing with each other.
The tradition brings excitement and gets the school together. Having this event here at UHS lets students bring out their creativity, teamwork and competitive side. Games such as relay races, self balancing scooter races, and tug-of-war go on at this event.
It’s not easy growing older and the holidays are getting blander. Most of the time you’ll hear from teenagers that the holiday season doesn’t feel the same. Having events like this in high school adds layers of joy and might bring back past memories.
Senior David Sossou is excited for the games today and is ready to carry his class to victory with his classmates. He says, “It’s my last year and I just want to make my teacher happy!”
The holiday music playing in the background, laughter, excitement, decorations, and overall the holiday spirit. The staff was stepping away from the usual fashion norm and wore ugly sweaters embracing their silliness and creativity. The reindeer games have been going on before every break. So get involved, show bravery and strength. After all you only live once. Rudolph, Dasher, and Dancer would be proud of your participation as well as your teachers!!
If you need ideas about what to do over the break you can always catch up on school work, cleaning, family bonding, new hobbies, and try new places such as Bentztown in Downtown Frederick with live music and delicious food. Great for family events.
