The 2025 UHS football season is quickly approaching, and the students are buzzing with excitement. After a challenging previous season, the Hawks are eager for redemption. With fresh talent and renewed leadership, this year promises to be different.
Players and students have been preparing their “White out” outfits for a memorable experience under the lights. Let’s take an inside look on what some of the Hawks are thinking as they prepare for their first game…
We asked varsity linebacker Deron Odame his expectations for the upcoming season,“I think we’re gonna win every game, and I hope we go to states.” A goal that stuck out to him was having “at least 50 tackles for the season.”
Odame isn’t new to football, As a fan and player, he’s been playing as a hawk for years now. When asked about past experiences while playing for Urbana, he described notable differences.
“Last year…” Odame said, “We didn’t have any team leadership, and this year there are a lot more leaders on the team.” Odame strongly believes that the team has improved since last year, let’s hope he’s right.
The game he looks most forward to is definitely the “Linganore Game,” which takes place on November 1st!
Players like Odame aren’t the only ones who are optimistic about the game. Blake Rogers, a senior and fan at Urbana High School, was more than excited to talk about her predictions for this season.
“Of course…all the home games,” Rogers described when she was asked if she was planning on attending any of this season’s games.
Football is an important memory and experience for many students in high schools throughout the country.
At Urbana, the student section isn’t just a group of spectators- it’s what fuels the team. Known for our passionate energy, the students are ready to bring their ‘A-game’ to every game.
Addison Buckland and Sammy Croman explained that their main goal as a spectator for the season is to “have a good student section.”
With a rollercoaster of success throughout the years of Urbana, students and players alike are hopeful and optimistic towards this year’s chances of winning.
As the Hawks take the field under the lights tonight, the anticipation will reach new heights. It’ll take place at 6:30 at Legacy Field against Ballou. The theme is WHITE OUT. See you there..
