Mateo Carrillo is a Senior at Urbana High School and in the class of 2025. He has many interests including working out, sleeping, reading and listening to music. His favorite bands to listen to are DefTones, Lil Peep and Violent Vira.
He looks forward to his graduation and completing his volunteer hours for his last year in high school. The subject he loved most at UHS is history. In this class he's learned valuable lessons such as understanding change and learning from mistakes. His favorite topic he learned in history is WW2. Mateo plans to join the army and has been inspired by history, politics and religion.
It’s Mateo’s first year in Journalism. He chose to take this class because he gets to experience new things, meet new people and prioritize creativity. He enjoys spending time with his 6 siblings, ages 3-21. Mateo describes himself as a mix of an introvert and extrovert. A fun fact about Mateo is that he can fluently speak both English and Spanish.
