This year Khalid released his second full-length album, Free Spirit, the follow-up to Suncity and American Teen. The album quickly hit the no. 1 spot on the Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart an has stayed in the top 5. The album doesn’t disappoint, continuing the artists well-known style but changing to address Khalid’s new perspective as an adult. The album consists of 17 songs, the most popular being his song “Talk”.

BTS continues to compound on their success year after year. In 2019 BTS continues to be relevant with their new album Map of the Soul: Persona. The kpop group then went on to perform this song at the 2019 Billboard Music awards where they also won awards for Top Group and Top Social Artist.

4.Lil Nas X

Lil Nas X is an example of a new artist first entering the music scene in 2019. He rose to popularity due to his song Old Town Road. The song made it to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 list and stayed at No. 1 for seven weeks. Critics praised the song for crossing together the very different genres of country and rap.

3.The Jonas Brothers

2019 was a very important year because unexpectedly the Jonas Brothers reunited. The dropped their first song Sucker at the beginning of the year shocking many people who had no idea they were getting back together. The song does not disappoint and it’s obvious how their music has evolved since the band originally split. The band plans to follow up Sucker with a full-length album Happiness Begins which is planned to be released on June 9th. The brothers are also releasing a documentary called Chasing Happiness about their split and eventual reunion.

2.Billie Eilish

This new artist came into 2019 to prove that she is still relevant and will continue to be for many years. She did exactly this with her album ‘WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?’. The album is different from her earlier album, it is much darker and more unexpected. Fans love it though, as her tour for the album sold out almost immediately. Her album peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 list and stayed there for 2 weeks and has continued to remain steady at the number 2 spot.
