Come out to the “Spelling Bee” tonight

Victoria Salters, News and Clubs Editor

Urbana High’s fall drama production, a comedy musical called The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, premieres to night at 7p.m.. The plot of this hysterical musical is described by Mr. Ward as “young elementary school children who are in the throes of adolescence as they compete to be the spelling bee champion of Putnam County.”

Ward describes it as a heartwarming story because the audience learns about the character’s unique personalities and characteristics throughout the show. Not only this, but the audience also learns about the fears that these characters have during the competition.
One unique quality of this musical is that there is an audience participation aspect. Every night, four audience members will each have the opportunity to have a role of a spelling bee contestant on stage.
The musical will be performed on Nov. 2, 3, and 4 at 7 p.m. The tickets can be bought online at showtix4u.com for $8 each or sold for $10 each at the door.
