The 2014 Boys Varsity Team heads to states for the second year in a row.

The UHS boys’ varsity soccer team has once again made it all the way to state level with their victory against Watkin’s Mill. The Hawks enter the playoffs with a very respectable 9-2-3 record. This is third consecutive year the Hawks have made it to the state tournament, and the fifth time in the last 6 years. The Hawks are hoping to have their second win, which would make two state championships in a row.

Junior Chris Breitsameter said “What really got us to this point was fighting all the way to the last whistle; never giving up, even in the closest games.”

The Hawks play Huntingtown this Saturday at 5, at CCBC-Essex. “We’re not too worried about the other teams” said Breitsameter, “While nothing is certain; I feel that as long as we play our game, we will be able to match any opponent that faces us.”

The Hawks have some interesting opponents on the other side of the bracket. They played River hill last year, beating them in the last 20 seconds of the game to claim their spot in state finals.  River Hill is still in the tournament, so there is a good chance that the Hawks will be seeing them again, making for an interesting matchup.
