Urbana Welcomes New Principal Mr. Francheschina

Jazmin Colon, Fine Arts and Student Life Editor

This 2017-2018 school year at Urbana High School, students were welcomed by acting Principal for the fall semester, Mr. David Franceschina. Mr. Franceschina is acting principal while Mr. David Kehne is on sabbatical. Kehne took this time away so he may focus on obtaining his doctorate. After the fall semester Franceschina will then switch into an assistant principal role.
Mr. Franceschina has spent nine years teaching at numerous schools including Heather Ridge, Walkersville High, Middletown Middle, and Tuscarora High. He has also spent eight years doing administration work at Linganore High, Frederick High and now Urbana High.
Since he first started his time at UHS Mr. Franceschina has most enjoyed getting to know the student body. He finds himself most impressed by “the sense of school pride in the accomplishments that have been done here in a relatively short time.” As an educator he loves walking into classrooms as and seeing students grasping concepts well in class. “You know they’ve been working hard on something, and then the lightbulb clicks and it’s like, oh this is why I worked so hard, now I get it,” said Franceschina.
