As some colleges October 15 deadline approaches, seniors are rushing to get their applications in on time.
Most students have already met with their counselors to discuss student reports, letter of recommendations, and more necessary information but the stress is still on.
Senior Sydney Diallo has deadlines coming up fast, with little to no time to advance on her applications because of work and other activities. “I have a few deadlines coming up, and Georgetown’s application isn’t even through Common app so I’m super stressed and nervous for the whole process,” she says with a nervous grin on her face.
Another thing seniors are dealing with are fees. These fees can break the bank as many colleges charge over $70 just to submit your application, excluding the College Board fees to submit your scores to schools that require it.
Senior Reagan Perhac plans to apply to many public Florida schools which require the submitting of your SAT/ACT score. She explains, “The fees should be cheaper, because applying to over 10 colleges can equate to over a thousand dollars in fees, which is actually crazy.” Collegeboard charges $14 PER school just to submit an SAT score, these $14 charges can rack up fast.
So as your deadlines approach, its important to factor in the costs associated with applying.
Prestigious schools typically have higher fees for applying while other schools can be as low as $30.
Your choice is all up to your confidence. How much you spend on college is all in your hands… but good luck on your adventures!
