Freshman, Michael Maier is the starting left back on the boys’ Varsity soccer team. He was introduced to soccer at age four by his father and has been in love with it ever since. His brother Karl Maier, senior, also plays with him on Varsity as center back, “It is fun playing with my brother and I really enjoy it,” says Maier.

Maier has helped the team stay undefeated this season so far, but is ready to keep the streak going for the whole season as well. He is very motivated to keep the team undefeated for as long as possible, his passion for soccer keeps this motivation going.

Maier played for the Windsor Knolls soccer team all throughout middle school and plays club soccer for FC Frederick on the premier team which helped him train for the Urbana season.

He also helped the team win counties and is hoping to help the team win states. “I hope to win states this year because it would be really exciting,” Maier said. He has high hopes for the rest of the season and is willing to work as hard as he needs to, to help the team.

Maier is hoping to keep playing soccer throughout the rest of his life as well. “I don’t know what college I want to go to yet, but I know I want to play soccer,” said Maier. He wants to eventually play professional, but for now, he hopes to help his team to continue their undefeated streak and continue to improve by playing well with the team.
