The debate between Star Wars and Marvel has been raging for years among fans of both franchises. Both have their loyal followers. When I asked senior Nolan Waters what franchise he supports more he said “Well that’s a tough one both star wars and marvel have their own unique qualities that make them great. However if I had to choose I personally prefer star wars because of its epic storytelling ionic characters and imaginative world building”.

Star Wars is a classic franchise that has been around for over four decades. The original trilogy, released in the late 1970s and early 1980s, is widely considered a masterpiece of science fiction storytelling. The prequels and sequels, released in the 1990s and 2000s, respectively were met with mixed reviews, but the franchise remains a beloved part of pop culture. he franchise all together has grossed a 2nd all time 10.32 billion.

On the other hand, Marvel has taken the world by storm with its cinematic universe. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has produced over 20 films. Within those twenty films they grossed $26.6 billion which is the most all time (all time of what? Just explain that a bit more).  all of which have been well-received by audiences and critics alike. The franchise has also produced several popular TV shows and comic book series’. The franchise has also produced several popular TV shows and comic book series’ like Moonknight, Wandavision and Hawkeye

When it comes to storytelling, both franchises have their strengths. Star Wars is known for its epic, space opera style and its emphasis on the struggle between good and evil. The franchise is full of memorable characters, from Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. To Darth Vader and Han Solo. The films are also known for their iconic music and visual effects. I asked Tatiana Grant what is the best Star Wars movie.“I think Empire Strikes Back is the best because it has a really good soundtrack and  lots of memorable scenes that many people know. Personally I just believe it is one of the best movies in the whole trilogy.”

Meanwhile, Marvel is known for its interconnected storytelling and character development. The MCU has built a vast universe of characters, each with their own unique storylines and personalities. Speaking of unique storylines, junior Anthony Verdi was asked which is the best Marvel movie and he said “Infinity war because its set up by a decade of movies before and ends with something other than the audience expects”.

When it comes to action, both franchises deliver in their own ways. Star Wars is known for its intense space battles and lightsaber duels. The franchise has produced some of the most iconic action scenes in movie history, such as the Death Star trench run and the Battle of Hoth. Marvel, on the other hand, is known for its epic superhero battles. The films are full of explosive fight scenes, from Iron Man’s battles with villains like Thanos to Captain America’s epic showdowns with the Winter Soldier.

In terms of fandom, both franchises have dedicated fans who are passionate about their respective universes. Star Wars fans are known for their devotion to the original trilogy, and many were disappointed with the prequels and sequels. Meanwhile, Marvel fans are known for their love of the interconnected universe and their speculation about future films.

So, which one is better? It ultimately comes down to personal preference. Some fans prefer the classic, epic storytelling of Star Wars, while others are drawn to the interconnected world of Marvel. Both franchises have their strengths and weaknesses, and both have had a significant impact on pop culture.

In the end, it’s possible to be a fan of both franchises. They may be different, but they both offer exciting, thrilling storytelling and memorable characters. Whether you prefer lightsabers or superpowers, there’s no denying the impact that both Star Wars and Marvel have had on the world of entertainment.
