Corrine Capino is a junior here at Urbana High. Although she enjoys the presence of her peers as a junior, Corrine noted that her least favorite part of being a junior is the constant pressure to succeed on the SAT. Corrine is fully aware of the effects on the SAT score on her future in college, and believes many juniors also experience a similar stress.
She, however, always has two people to support her throughout the stress of school. She feels the two people she can confide in is her aunt and her love interest. They make her feel loved, always are there for her, care about her feelings, are willing to listen, and offer wise advice. To her, these features are what makes a reliable relationship.
This ties in with what Corrine feels her greatest fear is: not letting herself live the life she wants to due to lack of motivation. Luckily, Corrine has the support system she needs for the fear to never come true.
Her dream life is the opposite of her greatest fear. She hopes to find a career that makes her happy, a person she loves, to have a stable foundation, a golden retriever, a beach house, and to learn how to surf.
More on school, when asked about the cellphone policy, a topic Corrine feels passionately about, Corrine commented “Teachers shouldn’t have the right to dictate what students do with property that isn't theirs. What students want to do with their own time is their choice. Some work better with music and some need to answer important texts. Students have the responsibility to pay attention and do their work regardless”.
The hardest part of getting ready for school is getting out of bed in the morning, according to Corrine. She spends about 20 minutes each day just trying to convince herself to wake up and face the agony of school for the full torturous 7 hours.
Of all the school years, Corrine’s favorite class is Mr. Frush’s SAT Prep. She found this class particularly enjoyable because he’s her favorite teacher who focuses mostly on hands on teaching. “He really made the content easy to understand” Corrine said. As well, he is well organized and made information about the class easily accessible through calendars. This helps especially with her bad habit of procrastination that she simply refuses to break.
Quotes from movies that she loves inspires her to continue going everyday. Movies give her meaning and inspire her as a person. She especially enjoys looking at quotes from her favorites to give her reminders throughout her day. Some movies include: Perks of Being a Wallflower, Five Feet Apart, After, and All the Bright Places.
