Technology is changing how students learn, and AI (artificial intelligence) is becoming more common in schools. One way schools are using AI is with AI tutors. These tutors help students with classwork and studying. But is AI really helpful for students?
From talking to some students, the answer is yes. Many students said AI tutors make learning easier because they explain lessons in different ways and give extra practice. For example, Manny, an 11th grader who uses AI for help, said that when he doesn’t understand something in class, AI lets him go over the lesson on his own and explains it in a way that makes more sense to him. This shows that AI can help different kinds of learners.
Students also said AI tutors are helpful because they are always there. Michael, also in 11th grade, said that sometimes teachers are busy helping other students, so it’s hard to get help right away. With AI, he can practice anytime and stay on track with his work. This gives students more support outside of class.
But students agreed that AI has limits. Jason, a 12th grader, said that AI is useful, but it doesn’t know everything. When he’s really stuck, he still prefers asking a teacher. This shows that teachers are still really important.
Sam, another 11th grader, said that AI helps by giving extra practice and letting him review lessons whenever he needs. This makes learning less stressful and helps students feel more confident.
Overall, AI tutors are helpful tools, but they don’t replace teachers. They work best when students use them with classroom learning, giving extra help when it’s needed most. As technology keeps improving, schools may find even better ways to use AI to support learning while still relying on teachers for guidance, feedback, and real-life understanding.
