Breaking News! Due to popular request, the Urbana High School Cafeteria will be selling food from Chick-fil-A starting on May 3rd, 2019.

Urbana High has brokered a deal with Chick-fil-A who will deliver freshly cooked food to the school each morning at 10AM. The popular restaurant will deliver chicken sandwiches and chicken nuggets to the school along with Chick-fil-A’s famous waffle fries and milkshakes.

The school is hoping that by selling these items, students will be more likely to buy lunches from the cafeteria, therefore increasing profits for the school. Experimental initiatives done in public schools in Virginia have yielded considerable results, showing that selling brand name foods in school cafeterias increased the number of students who purchased lunch by an average of 20% on any given school day. Selling Chick-fil-A will also satisfy the students’ demand for more food options in the cafeteria. When hearing this news, freshman Sammi Scates said, “Count me in!”

Anticipating students’ positive reaction to Chick-fil-A, Dr. Kehne is already making plans to expand to breakfast food for the 2019-2020 school year. Provided the initiative goes as well as planned, the school hopes to include Chick-fil-A’s sausage and egg biscuit, chicken egg and cheese bagel, and their greek yogurt parfait into the budget for future years. Chick-fil-A is happy about this new deal. The operations manager of the Urbana Pike Chick-fil-A, David Rogers, has released in a public statement that they are “excited to be encouraging kids to eat more chicken!” If this initiative proves successful, it could soon spread to other Frederick County schools and expand to include other popular restaurants such as Panda Express or Chipotle.
