May 2, 2019
Last night Billboard hosted their annual Billboard Music Awards for 2019. The Awards took place in Las Vegas and celebrated many of music’s most popular and chart-topping stars for the year 2019. The show opened with Brendon Urie and Taylor Swift performing their new song ‘ME!’ for the first time ever on TV. Kelly Clarkson hosted the show and even performed her own medley of the night’s award-winning songs. The winners include the K-pop group BTS who won Top Social Artist and Top Group Performance and then went on to perform their new collaboration with Halsey, ‘Boy with Luv’. Ariana Grande also had a memorable night winning the top Female Artist Award and performing her wildly popular song “7 rings.”
One of the most exciting performances of the show was The Jonas Brothers’ performance as they solidified their reformation with a mash-up of their new song “Sucker.” The Billboard Icon Award of the year went rightfully to singer Mariah Carey. Perhaps the most important artist of the show was Drake who won twelve awards this year including Top Artist, Top Rap Artist, and Top Rap Album. These awards made Drake the most awarded artist in Billboard music history with a total of 27 awards. All in all the 2019 Billboard Music Awards was a great show filled with exciting performances, debut songs, and simply good music.
