Isabella Carrero-Baptista, Reporter
Isabella Carrero-Baptista is currently a senior at Urbana High School. Her hobbies can include watching TV, reading, and hiking, and you’ll find her writing short stories in her free time. Although she felt intimidated stepping into the school as a freshman, she was excited for the new classes and being able to see new faces. Isabella definitely enjoyed the higher engagement from teachers and thought that everybody was a lot less high strung compared to the immature middle schoolers. This excitement shifted to extreme dislike once the school turned virtual, and she is now optimistic towards the new school year in person. Isabella’s favorite class throughout her high school career was Creative Writing.
Transitioning to more personal topics, Isabella’s greatest achievement in high school is helping to run the Young Writer’s Workshop this year. Her favorite memory occurred on the last day of school back in her freshman year, when she and some of her friends did a little gift exchange at YoBubble. As a senior, her advice to the younger students just starting high school is to be organized with notes, take the teachers into account when choosing courses, and get as many volunteer hours done as possible. Seems like pretty thorough advice.
When it comes to dreams and aspirations, Isabella is striving to publish her own book in the future. Although she hasn’t yet decided where she wants to go to college, her goal is to become an editor after graduation. Speaking of goals, it’s relatively clear that most of Isabella’s intentions revolve around writing, editing, and publishing new stories. And Journalism certainly fits her interests.
