The Mini-THON FTKolor Run took place on December 9, 2017. The run is not exclusive to only Urbana students, anyone who wants to help children with pediatric cancer and registers to participate and pays the runner fee can participate. The FTKolor Run began at nine o’clock am, and finished at twelve o’clock pm. Registration began at eight o’clock am. The participation fee is $30 going towards helping children with pediatric cancer.

People who have pre-registered receive a t-shirt, a guaranteed spot in the race, a runner bib, a bag of color for the finish line, and a drawstring bag. If one did not pre-register, they could register the day of the event with their $30 runner’s fee. Last minute runners who are minors needed a parent or guardian to accompany them during check in to sign the paperwork.

It was not a requirement to run, several participants chose to walk, but either way they made a difference. The run contained Color Throw Zones which are marked with one of the four diamonds. The diamond colors are blue for wisdom, green for honesty, yellow for courage, and red for strength. Also representing each of the four diamonds is a color war captain. The captain for red is Emily Masson, the captain for blue is Ryan Hayden, white is Gabby Armillotti, and yellow is Kaitlyn Reilly.  (To read more pick up a copy of the December issue of the Hawkeye.)
