Urbana Indoor Track Team Soars at Regionals Meet: Photo of the Day 2/7/19

On February 6th, the Urbana indoor track team competed at the 4A Central Regionals Meet at Prince George’s County Sports Complex. Both the boys and girls teams continue to score well despite being in a very competitive region. The girl’s team placed first overall and the boy’s team placed 8th.

The girl’s team won, scoring an impressive total of 137.5 points. In total, 16 girls qualified for the State Championship meet. In high jump, Urbana placed 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, with all girls clearing 4-10 or more. Kelsey Calabrese won pole vault clearing 11’ with Payton Bohrer scoring a close second and Rachel Custer scoring fifth. Urbana crushed the relays winning the 4×400 and the 4×800 and scoring second in the 4×200. Sophomore Ella Auderset also scored a significant amount of points for the team, winning the 300, 500, and going third in the 800.

The boy’s team also did well at the meet placing 8th overall. They won the 55 meter hurdles with Timothy Ogunsola running a time of 7.98 seconds. In pole vault, Cole Jiron took first place clearing 13-05 and Seth Hajzus placed third clearing 12-05. Now that Regionals are over both teams are looking forward to the 4A State Championship meet on February 19th. As Head Coach Ecalono said to his team, “Tomorrow we get back to work!”.
