When the final bell rings, most students aren’t heading straight home. Whether it’s grabbing a snack, getting homework done, or just hanging out with friends, these spots have become go-to favorites for Urbana’s students after school. After surveying 21 students from different grades we found these results: Taking up the Number 1 spot is the new Sheetz. This spot has become a student staple since its opening in early August. With endless snack options, milkshakes, and made-to-order food, it’s the ultimate spot for hungry students. Coming up in a close second is Chipotle. If there’s one thing students agree on, it’s that Chipotle never misses. Students line up for burrito bowls, quesadillas, and that extra guacamole. Taking third place is Panera Bread. Panera’s quiet environment makes it a perfect spot for study sessions and relaxed hangouts. The YMCA, another hotspot, comes in at Number 4. Between workouts, basketball, and lounging in the lobby, the YMCA is both active and social. Last but not least in fifth place is McDonald’s. Affordable, familiar, and always open—it’s a classic choice. Whether you’re fueling up, hanging out, or avoiding homework a little longer, these spots will have you covered.
