Once December starts, Christmas music basically takes over every UHS hallway, car ride, and Spotify queue. At the top of the list is “All I Want for Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey, the song that instantly puts everyone in a festive mood the second those bells start. Even if people pretend they’re tired of it, they still sing along. In second place is “Jingle Bell Rock” by Bobby Helms, a classic that shows up in every holiday movie and somehow never gets old. It’s cheerful, catchy, and basically unavoidable this time of year. Third is “Last Christmas” by Wham!”, the dramatic, nostalgic favorite that feels like the soundtrack to cold December afternoons. It’s emotional in the best way and always makes a comeback. In fourth place is “Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber, the cozy holiday song Gen Z grew up with. It’s mellow, sweet, and perfect for winter break late-night drives. Finally, number five goes to “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby, a timeless classic that brings that old-school Christmas warmth, even if the weather refuses to cooperate. Whether you listen to all five or stick to one on repeat, these songs pretty much define the holiday season at Urbana.
