UHS Drama ran it’s Boo Bash event this past Saturday Oct. 19, and it was a total smash. The event lasted from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and many families across Urbana came to enjoy the event.
The main section of the event was held in the cafeteria. Drama students ran many different booths with small games to win tickets. Attendees were then able to exchange those tickets for candy as a reward.
One of the biggest attractions of the event was the haunted hallway, “School of Screams”. Whenever a tour was announced for the hallway, dozens of kids would rush to line up for the door. The students hosted a mature version and one aimed at younger kids to enjoy.
The haunted hallway was primarily organized by International Thespian Society Member at Large Claire Pettay (Class of 2026) and President Christopher Brookes (Class of 2025). Both of these people worked on creating the scripts for the hallway that the actors memorized as well as training the actors beforehand. The actors makeup was done by Anaiyah Cephas (Class of 2025) and Maggie Mckay (Class of 2025). A large aspect of the events was the beautiful lighting design which was organized by Christopher McGuire (Class of 2025) and Lucas Rungrojcharoenkit (Class of 2027).
Overall many feel the event was a resounding success, with Brookes saying, “There were a few kinks that we worked out, but we’re satisfied with the results. It’s my firm belief that this year’s event will help lay the foundation for what I hope can become a yearly event that grows and expands with every season.”
Many in the community agree and cannot wait for next year.
