Landon Lee isn’t just returning for another season; he’s storming into it. The Urbana junior has grown into one of the Hawks’ most electric arms, a pitcher who thrives under pressure and refuses to back down from big moments. As Urbana gears up for a new campaign, Landon steps onto the mound with a fire that’s been burning since last year’s gut‑wrenching state championship loss. He hasn’t forgotten it. In fact, he’s using it. Fueled by unfinished business and a belief that this team can reclaim its place at the top, Landon is determined to lead the Hawks back to the biggest stage and, this time, finish the job.
For Landon, the goals are simple but ambitious: “make the championship, make everybody proud, and put Urbana on the map.” As one of the experienced players, having been on the varsity team for 2 years, Landon knows he will need to play a large role in making sure these goals are accomplished by ensuring his teammates are staying focused. “I want to be a leader,” he said. “Keep everybody focused on games and make sure everybody stays in check.”
On a personal level, Landon is aiming to continue improving his game on the mound. He is working hard to increase his pitching velocity, improve the location of his pitches, and continue to be a good teammate that others can rely on. His role models and biggest inspirations on the field are Mason Miller and Paul Skenes; both are talented pitchers that push Landon and make him want to better his craft.
As big as baseball is in Landon’s life, he still is able to enjoy life off of the field. Landon still loves to stay active, with hobbies like golf, pickleball, and driving around with his friends. His future plans for after high school consist of going to college, where he plans on playing baseball at the next level. Some schools he is interested in are Florida State University, Louisiana State University, University of South Florida, and Eastern Tennessee State University, where he plans to grow as a baseball player and a person.
What makes Landon stand out is not just his ability to make batters chase pitches into the dirt but also the respect he has earned from his parents and others for his kindness and character. A local fan named Jim McEvoy states that Landon is “a remarkable player and even better person.” Landon is appreciated by his teammates and coaches as well due to the way he continues to keep morale up on the field and in the locker room.
When Coach Frownfelter was interviewed about what makes Landon Lee a special player, he responded, “It’s his second year on varsity, and he has learned a lot from last year. He also played a big part in the clutch throughout the year and will be a big player for us this season as a starting pitcher.” The effect Landon has on Urbana baseball is obvious.
For Landon Lee, the best part of baseball is simple, making his parents proud. That’s what drives his work ethic, his leadership, and the way he attacks every inning. With his fire and the team’s hunger, this season feels primed for something big in Urbana.
