The Urbana High School boys’ lacrosse team delivered a commanding performance on April 17, defeating Linganore High School 14–3 in a game defined by energy, communication, and control from start to finish. Urbana set the tone early, moving the ball with confidence and maintaining pressure on both ends of the field. By halftime, the Hawks had built a strong lead, and they never allowed Linganore to gain momentum.
Players credited the win to the team’s chemistry and preparation. Junior Dylan Maloney said that what stood out most was “how connected we were out there. Everyone communicated and trusted each other, and that made everything flow better.” He explained that the team spent the week focusing on consistency and discipline, adding, “We worked on the small things — clean passes, smart choices — and that carried into the game.”
Junior Hendrix Warburton echoed that sense of unity, noting that Urbana’s calmness under pressure made a difference. “We trusted each other,” he said. “Even when Linganore pushed back, we stayed calm and stuck to what we practiced.” Warburton emphasized that preparation went beyond physical drills. “Film and practice both helped. We talked about what we wanted to improve from earlier games, and we actually applied it.”
Senior Jayden Sharper highlighted the team’s mindset as a key factor in the dominant win. “The energy was there from the start,” he said. “We didn’t wait for something to happen — we made things happen.” Sharper explained that the team entered the week with a strong sense of motivation. “It was about attitude. We wanted to prove something to ourselves.”
The victory also gave Urbana a boost in confidence, though players stressed the importance of staying grounded. Maloney said the win “definitely boosts us, but we’re not getting ahead of ourselves. It’s one game, and we want to keep building.” Warburton agreed, saying the performance “shows what we’re capable of when we’re locked in,” while Sharper added that the win is “a reminder that the work pays off” but that the team must avoid complacency.
Looking ahead, all three players expressed excitement for the rest of the season. Maloney said he’s eager to “keep growing as a team,” while Warburton is looking forward to “tougher matchups” that will test Urbana’s consistency. Sharper, meanwhile, is focused on appreciating the journey: “I just want to enjoy every moment. The season goes by fast, and wins like this make it even better.”
With a 14–3 victory that showcased both skill and maturity, Urbana proved they are a team capable of controlling games through discipline, communication, and confidence. If the Hawks continue to play with this level of unity, they’ll remain a strong contender as the season moves forward.
