Hello, my name is Crystal. I’m a senior at Urbana High School, and I am new to this journalism class. When I’m not at school, I spend most of my time working as a hostess at the Urbana Lodge; this is where I learned how to connect with all kinds of people. Balancing school and a busy job has taught me responsibility, time management, thinking ahead, and how to stay calm under pressure. I’ve always loved being creative, especially through drawing. Art has been one of my favorite ways to express myself, especially when I was younger. I also cheered for two years, which helped me build confidence and learn how to work together!
In journalism, I’m most interested in feature and opinion writing. I enjoy stories that focus on people’s achievements. This year, I’m looking forward to writing about student life. After high school, I plan to attend Salisbury University and work toward becoming a dentist.
