Grace Nelson, Reporter

Grace Nelson is currently a sophomore here at Urbana High School. She was born in Morris, Minnesota and moved to Maryland when she was very young. She’s been living in Urbana since 2018 and attending the schools here since the 7th grade. Although at times, Grace can be quite indecisive, she is an overall relaxed and shy person. But once you get to know her she is a funny and adventurous person. In school, Grace’s favorite subjects include biology, art, and english class. Outside of school, you can find Grace reading, drawing, and playing with her pet rabbit, Mars. She also enjoys extracurricular activities such as the book club. Music has always been an outlet for Grace: her favorite artists include SZA, Tame Impala, Lorde and Sarah Kinsley. She also plays ukulele from time to time. She takes inspiration from her favorite Studio Ghibli films, like Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. She also takes inspiration from people like David Attenborough.
In the future, Grace would like to attend college in Washington or Oregon state. She plans on majoring in environmental studies such as marine biology. Grace is very passionate about the environment, climate crisis, and considers herself an animal lover. In the meantime Grace wishes to volunteer at the animal shelter sometime soon. Aside from school, Grace would also like to travel the world, visiting countries such as Australia, France, and Japan.
