The Urbana Girls Basketball team recently concluded a great season making it to the state quarterfinals but sadly losing 52-49 to Severna Park. They finished this season with a region record this season of 11-3, raking them 4th in the Central Maryland division.

There are a lot of good things about being a part of this team or simply just being around them. “The best part is getting to be around the quality kids at this school and being able to help them achieve their dreams and help them academically.” Said the Urbana Girls Basketball coach and teacher here at Urbana Mr. Blaser.

Like many sports, a community is built with your teammates and a bond like this can not be created or found anywhere else. But this year’s team was different from ones in the past.

“Their ability to stick together through the hard times. At games or even throughout the season, when things were getting hard they always stuck together.”

The girls basketball team, even outside of this season, has lots of remarkable feats. They were undefeated in the 2021-2022 regular season, 2022 Spires Division Champions, and the 2022 CMC Champions. And slowly over the years have climbed to this level from the 2018-19 season with their state rank at 111 to now the 2022-23 season with their state rank at 22.

Although this season has come to an end in the 2023-24 winter season you will certainly be able to see the same level of dedication from this team.
