The CORE Literary Magazine

Guin Schipper, Features Editor

How many students are aware that Urbana High School has a literary magazine? It is officially called the CORE but affectionately referred to as the Goat Song. The Goat has been publishing issues since 2013, four years.

Students are strongly encouraged to submit their art, fictional stories, nonfictional stories, or poetry. The student who submits the best quality story, poem, or art will receive a twenty-five dollar gift card to Starbucks or GameStop. Apart from getting a prize, submissions to the Goat literary magazine will look very good on applications to National Honor Societies. The Goat will take anonymous submissions.

Last year, the Goat published two issues per year, one per semester. This year, they plan on publishing more issues, but in order to achieve that goal they rely on the submissions of the student body. In order to submit a piece, go to coreuhs.submittable.com or email [email protected].

The Goat currently has three editors to edit submissions and put the magazine together. The three editors at the Goat are Shaun KewalRamani who is a sophomore, Sean Chen who is a senior, and Tiara Cruz who is a senior as well. KewalRamani says that he enjoys the diversity of the submission and he appreciates all of the submissions. (To read the rest of this story, pick up a copy of the December issue of the Hawkeye.)
