Hawks Start Composting

A new addition has been added to the Urbana High School cafeteria for the new year of 2018. Students from Elizabeth McCook’s AP Environmental Science class added composting stations to help UHS students reduce the amount of waste sent to a landfill in Pennsylvania from FCPS.
The idea for students to be able to compost at Urbana first began two years ago when a meeting called “What’s Next?” was held by the Frederick County Sustainability Commission. To read the rest of this story, pick up a copy of The Hawkeye from the newsstand near the front office or the media center.
