Maria Reyes is a sophomore at Urbana High School. At
The Hawkeye, she is the Assistant Managing Editor and works on news stories and editorial pieces. When she becomes an adult, she would like to pursue a career in either in journalism or practice the law. She loves to write argumentative pieces and short stories. Apart from journalism, Reyes enjoys reading books and cooking. Her favorite kind of food to cook is Italian food, and she really likes historical fiction. Her favorite book in that genre is
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell because she enjoys imagining herself in the time period it takes place in. When asked who she looks up to, Reyes said, “I look up to my dad because he’s level-headed and patient.” Some other things Reyes enjoys include a style of Latin American music called Bachata and any Christmas movie.
